VLC4iPhone diventa ZodPlay!

The drag and drop multi-format media player for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch vlc4iphone, is now ZodPlay.

ZodPlay 0.9.5 has been released to ZodTTD.com Beta Testers. A big welcome to all those who have recently joined!

I’ve been busy coding away at a faster, more compatible, and feature rich version of vlc4iphone when I was told to give the FFmpeg frontend FFplay a try. I did and it’s been working great!

Why the change of names? The ZodPlay name was chosen as to not force this media player on any certain technology. While I will most likely rely on FFmpeg and/or VLC functionality in the future, this just gives me more freedom. In short, making things futureproof.

What’s new in ZodPlay since vlc4iphone 0.9.0? Here’s a short list:
- File browsing. No longer be restricted to any one directory. Browse any location you choose.
- EVEN MORE media formats supported (performance depends on resolution) such as FLV, XviD, H264, MPEG4. AAC, FLAC. Though untested, subtitles should also work.
- Audio visualizer plays during audio. No more blank screen!
- More stable.

This is a large application weighing in at over 20MB! Be sure to free enough Application partition space before installing.

GPS per iPhone e iPod Touch by TouchMods team

Anche il TouchMods team, famosissimo per aver creato il primo microfono per iPod Touch e il primo software voIP per iPod Touch e iPhone, si è lanciato nella costruzione di un GPS!

Dalla foto sembra che ci sia ancora molto lavoro da fare, ma di sicuro Marian & co. sapranno stupirci!

iPhone-GPS Low Cost project … disegno del PCB!

Il progetto iPhone-GPS Low Cost continua e sembra fare giorno dopo giorno passi in avanti.
Il PCB è in continuo redesign per trovare la giusta forma.

Queste sono le opzioni che si stavano vagliando circa 15 giorni fà…

mentre ora sembra siano rimaste queste come opzioni finali (solo per gusto estetico sceglierei quello nero di sinistra)

In questo post invece è stata illustrata la scelta dei connettori per il Dock

Calcola l’accelerazione della tua auto con l’iPhone e l’iPod Touch

Da una richiesta di un utente (saxosuper1600) fino allo sviluppo e alla pubblicazione della beta; in pratica tutto tramite le pagine di un forum, che nel caso specifico è hackint0sh.org.

In pratica si voleva ottenere un’applicazione in stile G-TechPro per riuscire a calcolare tramite l’accelerometro dell’iPhone / iPod Touch l’accelerazione 0/100 Km/h, i tempi di frenata, la velocità (Km/h) massima raggiunta.

L’applicazione sembra ben riuscita, ma devo ancora testarla in macchina (presto un video dimostrativo)

Al momento è disponibile una beta che si chiama Gtech 2 ver. 0.4 ed è disponibile su Installer aggiungendo la repository http://promentor.no/demo
